MANILA, Philippines – World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight champion Amir Khan said he is working with the best boxing people around—Alex Ariza, Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao.
“Manny’s great. When you work with a guy like Manny, I’m a big fan of Manny Pacquiao. He might not know that,” Khan said in an interview with Philippine Daily Inquirer’s sports journalist Ronnie Nathanielz upon his arrival in Manila on Thursday.
“It’s great to work with him. When you’re running with him, when you’re training with him, it gives me an extra push, makes me train harder because I know Manny’s training hard. I wanna copy Manny so it’s like I like to be his shadow,” he added.
Khan is mentored by Pacquiao’s trainer Roach and conditioning coach Alex Ariza.
“What he does, I like to do the same thing because I know what he’s done has helped him to become a world champion, to become a pound-for-pound best fighter in the world,” the fighter from England said of the 7-division world champion. Read More >>>
