Chavez Jr. To Spar And Train With Pacquaio

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., son of legendary and Mexican boxing great Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., will be one of the sparring partners of Congressman Manny Pacquiao as he prepares for the November 13, 2010 fight against Antonio Margarito at the architectural and technological marvel Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington , Texas .

A panel of football annotators interviewed Pacquaio during the third quarter of the National Football League’s (NFL) final pre-season game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins at the Cowboys stadium. Insidesports.ph and Viva Sports special correspondent Romy Sager filed the story, confirming the story we ran following an interview with conditioning expert Alex Ariza some weeks ago.

Chavez Jr, son of the legendary Mexican warrior Julio Cesar Chavez “is tall and fights like Antonio Margarito,” Pacquiao told the panel on the choice of Chavez Jr., ranked 1st by WBC in Middleweight division and the current WBC Silver Middleweight champion.  The young Chavez is undefeated in his quest for the Welterweight title.

Asked about his trainers’ scouting report on Margarito, Manny Pacquiao, accompanied by promoter and Top Rank Chief Bob Arum in Arlington, said “Margarito is the opposite of Joshua Clottey.  He is an aggressive fighter and he throws a lot of punches,” Pacquiao said.

American football is a violent and physical sport played by behemoths around 6’5,” 250-300 pounds known as Linemen, Pass Rushers and Linebackers.  Manny Pacquiao would look Lilliputian standing among NFL players.

“Yes, I am enjoying the game.  This is my first time to watch a football game live,” Pacman told the play-by-play announcers, who acknowledged the honor to have a Filipino Congressman in their booth.

Pacman told the American broadcasters he is excited and “it is a privilege and honor” to fight in a big arena like the Cowboy stadium.”  But the Filipino fighter quickly clarified the venue, whether huge like the Cowboy stadium or smaller arenas do not matter.  “It is the training that counts,” he said.

Cowboy stadium is expected to draw 70,000 boxing fans to watch the fight in Arlington, excluding the Pay-Per-View buys from all over the world.
